HEAVY OIL

Earth Fluids has been participating in heavy oil vertical, slant and horizontal wells in eastern Alberta and western Saskatchewan since the inception of the company, at a rate of 200 - 450 wells per year.

The challenges in these areas include:

  • Mud rings and clay agglomeration from younger shale formations such as the Joli Fou,

  • Lost circulation in the Paleozoic, and from "worm holes" created from previous production,

  • Well-bore instability from unconsolidated sands and gravels,

  • Pressure from water flows.

Earth Fluids has successfully met all of these challenges, through our significant experience in the area, excellent field services and product research and development.
